From Saturday 5th – Sunday 13th October, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall are set to once again celebrate the season of abundance and the fruition of the gardening year with an inspiring programme of garden and estate themed talks, displays, demonstrations, tasters and craft; all part of their annual harvest event.
Celebrating the 500 heritage varieties of fruit, vegetable, flower and herb grown in the gardens as well as the heritage and rare breed livestock from the Estate, the Heligan Harvest really gifts everyone the opportunity to savour the tastes of the UKs horticultural and estate heritage.
Daily demonstrations, talks and tasters can be enjoyed throughout the historic gardens and visitors can expect to get some inside green fingered and culinary inspiration from the knowledgeable Garden, Estate and Catering teams.
Making their way the 157 yards from the gardens to plate, Heligan’s heritage vegetables, fruit and herbs alongside Heligan rare breed meat will be lovingly transformed into some mouth-watering Harvest Special Dishes, available daily 12pm – 2.30pm in the Heligan Kitchen. Not forgetting the Heligan Trail awaits anyone wishing to adventure through the gardens and be inspired about food, gardening and farming; whilst in the barn, tempting seasonal tasters as well as activities will be on offer.
Two unique Heligan Feast Nights (Fri 4th & Sat 12th October) start and finish the harvest celebrations with two wonderfully diverse offerings. The Heligan Team will showcase a home grown 3 course meal, accompanied by live music on the 4th October. The following Saturday 12th October you are invited to forage and feast in this wild and cultivated culinary experience hosted by Emma Gunn (Never Mind the Burdocks) and Matt Vernon (Cornish Wild Food).
