In October, Farrington’s is set to host its annual Halloween event, the Spookley Pumpkin Festival. The event provides visitors the chance to pick their own pumpkin out in the fields, as well as putting on a host of family-friendly activities at their farm shop and café in Farrington Gurney.
In preparation Farrington’s have planted 50,000 pumpkin seeds across seven acres, producing around 30,000 pumpkins for visitors to wander amongst and pick. Not only that, but there will also be up to 12 types of pumpkin to choose from.
As well as pumpkin picking and carving activities, children can also hear the tale of Spookley the square pumpkin, a story with an anti-bullying message that encourages children to “stop bullying before it starts”.
On the final two days after Halloween there will also be the first ever Pumpkin Smash. As the name suggests, this is about breaking down all the leftover pumpkins to help the fields recover, and so there will be fete style games, tractor smash demos and much more messy fun to be had.
