GBBO Stars Bake for bibic

Great British Bake Off’s Val & Louise are looking for star bakers in Sherborne and beyond

Val Stones bibic

Somerset children’s charity bibic has teamed up with much loved series 7 Great British Bake Off contestants Val Stones and Louise Williams, to raise awareness about children’s disabilities and difficulties and vital funds to support more struggling families and their children.

Together they are hosting a very special community event at Vida Comida in Sherborne on Saturday 28th October, inviting everybody to enjoy delicious cakes for a great cause.

This fantastic event with GBBO’s Val and Louise will mark the end of the charity’s October ‘bake for bibic’ campaign. More than 75% of children and their families bibic currently supports are from the South West and their service is in more demand than ever.

Val Stones, the aerobics loving cake whisperer from Somerton, says; Having worked in schools for many years, I made it a mission to help children with brain related conditions to give them a better quality of life. In supporting bibic, I know that I’ll be helping children and young people to gain independence, confidence and a chance to live a positive life.”

So, does your showstopper have what it takes to impress Val and Louise?

They are looking to crown three star bakers. Categories are for 18yrs+, Secondary and Primary. Bring along your brilliant creations and have some fun on Saturday 28th October between 10am and 12pm.

Enter your ‘best bake’ online to be in with a chance of winning Star Baker! Bring along at 10am on the day. Go to www.bibic.org.uk for further information. It’s a piece of cake!

There will be games, a fantastic raffle with great family days out, fabulous spa treats and meal vouchers, a very special cake auction that GBBO fans will not want to miss and some BBBO goodies too.

Make sure you buy your tickets quickly though, spaces are limited and are just £5 per adult and will include a hot drink and a delicious cake. Donations welcomed for children. Available to buy from Vida Comida or bibic. ALL proceeds raised will go to bibic.

Val has also kindly donated her delicious Virtuous Cake recipe to bibic’s wider fundraising campaign taking place throughout October. bibic is inviting schools, companies and communities to host their own ‘bake off’ events.  These bibic ‘bake offs’ really will change lives and Jayden, 5, from Weston is baking with his family to say thank you to bibic. Charlie Shipp, Jayden’s mum said;

Jayden’s baking his hulk cake for bibic and our family is joining this campaign to show our appreciation and support to a charity the UK would be lost without. Bibic were there for our family when everyone else who were meant to be supporting us, turned their backs to us. Jayden wouldn’t be the boy he is today without bibic; we will always be so grateful to the team. We can’t wait to raise money for families both present and future!

It’s really easy to get involved in bibic’s baking campaign. For FREE fundraising kits packed full of helpful goodies go to: www.bibic.org.uk.
