Results of the 2012 Great Taste Awards

August 3, 2012 by FOODLOVER in Features, Producers

Producers across the West Country have been celebrating after results of the 2012 Great Taste Awards were announced this week. Run by The Guild of Fine Food, the awards are eagerly anticipated by businesses who are keen to display a Great Taste Award as recognition of quality food or drink.

Judges this year included Masterchef winner and restaurateur Mat Follas, restaurant critic and Masterchef judge Charles Campion, food writers Lucas Hollweg and Xanthe Clay (pictured) and over 300 food buyers from leading food halls, delicatessens and farm shops, including Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason.

Over eight thousand products were entered and following 45 days of judging, 2,793 awards were announced. Only 123 entries were given the coveted three-star gold award.

Bob Farrand, Guild of Fine Food chairman told FOODLOVER: “To achieve a Great Taste Award is a significant achievement and for a product to merit a 3-star grading involves at least 25 experts unanimously agreeing that the product tastes divine.”

A full list of awards can be viewed on the Great Taste Awards website.
