Cookery demos at VegfestUK Bristol

If you’re looking to impress friends and family with sumptuous vegan food but are stuck for ideas, don’t miss the inspirational cookery demos at VegfestUK Bristol on May 21st and 22nd.

Suitable for newbie vegans, those who have been vegan for some time and those who are considering making the switch, the demos from seasoned chefs and demonstrators will give you plenty of new ideas.

The full schedule of demos reads as follows:


Saturday, May 21st

  • 12pm: Anna Middleton of Rawsome. Learn how to make turmeric milk using pumpkin seeds and cardamom, as well as sun-dried tomato, basil & baobab kale crisps, and sugar-free chocolate brownies.
  • 1pm: Mel Rogers. Learn how to make easy and tasty vegan cheese from Mel, who runs regular vegan cheese workshops in Bristol.
  • 2pm: Nishma Shah. Nishma, of Shambhu’s, will demonstrate just how versatile bananas can be when it comes to vegan cooking.
  • 3pm: Rosie Purdye. Learn how to veganise your favourite cocktails by combining spirits with freshly pressed juices and superfoods: Pina Coladas and Baileys are possible with a few changes.
  • 4pm: Vegan Chef Day – Think Like A Chef. Day Radley will show visitors how to think like a chef, including easy chef cheats and quick and easy yet perfectly balanced meals.


Sunday, May 22nd

  • 12pm: Kirly-Sue. Create Jamaican vegan treats with Kirly-Sue, a vegan cook, cookbook author, food columnist and TV presenter.
  • 1pm: Mel Rogers. Learn how to make easy and tasty vegan cheese from Mel, who runs regular vegan cheese workshops in Bristol.
  • 2pm: Deborah Durrant. Also known as The Flavour Fashionista, Deborah will demonstrate how to make delicious raw plant-based food using techniques that may be surprising.
  • 3pm: Jeanette Campbell. Jeanette, of Bristol-based Fi Real, will demonstrate Jamaica’s national dish – ackee and saltfish – using tofu in place of the fish to make it vegan.
  • 4pm: Timea Huber. The head pastry chef at 1847 Brighton will share her vegan macaroon recipe, along with tips for making vegan cakes and pastries.


These demos will sit alongside VegfestUK Bristol’s plethora of caterer’s, stalls, bars, juice bars, music and more for a fully packed weekend.
