Cheese and cider lovers will love this year’s Royal Bath & West Show, with this year including top cheese and cider competitions to enjoy.
The show runs from Wednesday, May 31st to Saturday, June 3rd, with tickets now available online at www.bathandwest.com.
On Wednesday, May 31st, the show plays host to The British Cheese Awards 2017: a celebration of British cheese and the industry that will see over 900 cheeses entered. Judging takes place from 9am, and members of the public can observe the unique judging process from a dedicated area. Judges will score the cheess on presentation, texture, aroma, flavour and balance, with gold, silver and bronze medals awarded to the cheeses that the judges rate the highest.
From 1pm onwards, visitors will then be able to have a close-up view of all of the cheeses that have been judged – and will be able to enjoy cheese tastings and talks (as well as buying cheese to take home) in the British Cheese Marquee.
Cheese and cider is a classic pairing, and at this year’s show, the team will also launch The Royal Bath and West International Cider Competition. For many years, the show has had just a single international class, but this year will include four international classes for ciders (traditional cider, New World cider, bottle-fermented or keeved cider and Spanish sidra/Spanish-style cider), along with three classes for perries.
